TWINFLOWER DOULA

BIRTH DOULA SERVICES

About

Welcome to Twinflower Doula!

Howdy, Linnea Hinkel here.

I'm a birth doula and childbirth educator in-training based in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Northern Minnesota, I received my BFA in Acting in New York before transitioning to California where I've begun a joint certification process through Birthing from Within and DONA® International.

While new to the incredible world of birth work, I've spent the last 8 years as a family nanny, working with children and parents to uphold creative play, mindfullness, and compassion.

It's a pleasure to meet you!

Why hire a doula?

  • Having a doula during the pregnancy, labor, delivery, and/or postpartum journey can greatly benefit birthing parent, support parent, and baby!

  • A doula's #1 priority is supporting the birthing parent emotionally, mentally, and physically.

  • Numerous studies have shown that having a doula decreases the chance of having an unplanned cesarian birth, decreases the length of labor, lowers the chance of experiencing postpartum depression, and increases birthing confidence!

Services

As a birth doula, my job is to support the birthing person throughout their pregnancy journey, with an emphasis on labor and delivery; whether that be at a hospital, birthing center, or home.

Some expecting parents may want to begin working with their doula early in pregnancy, while some reach out in the third trimester. Whenever you feel like you need support, I'm here for you! During our prenatal sessions, we'll discuss your birth plan/birth preferences, organize your care team, and practice coping strategies as you prepare for labor.

labor and delivery

As every birthing person is different, so is every labor. During the several weeks that surround your estimated due date, I'll remain on call and be at your side when you and baby are ready for delivery!

postpartem

Generally, a birth doula will remain with the family for 1 to 2 hours after the delivery of baby and placenta.

We'll also meet again at your postpartum visit, which is designed for processing birth, answering questions, connecting with potential resources and referrals, and closing out our time together.

let's get specific:

Full-spectrum support package offered:

  • 1 free introductory meeting

  • 2/3 prenatal meetings to go over birth preferences, childbirth education, coping tools, etc.

  • Unlimited phone support from point of hire to final postpartum meeting

  • 24/7 on-call availability at 37 weeks

  • Continuous labor & delivery support

  • 1 postpartum visit

As I begin this journey as a doula and childbirth educator, I am pleased to be able to offer financially accessible care.

Please reach out to discuss rates!

Education

  • I began my certification journey in January, 2025 through Birthing From Within's joint Doula and Childbirth Education program.

  • In January of 2026, I completed a DONA-approved 3 day in-person workshop at Bini Birth, further instilling in me how much there is to learn and how excited I am to offer support to expecting parents!

  • Coming fall of 2026, I will begin a doula mentorship program through The Space and Time Mentorship.

I'm so looking forward to continuing my education as birth work is an ever-evolving practice.  I am on track to become fully certified in 2026 or 2027.

My Philosophy

"Birth is a process of initiation."

      -Birthing from Within

  • I don't believe there is "one way" to give birth or to experience labor. My job is to amplify parents' voices and desires while respecting the sometimes necessary limitations of labor and birth, be those medical or logistical.

  • I am committed to upholding a judgement-free, inclusive space for birthing people and their partners.

  • I believe in the importance of coupling modern knowing with inner knowing when it comes to making plans for birth.

  • As a birth worker, it is imperative that I continue to learn and grow, examine my own privilege and preconceptions, and acknowledge that American birth work was built through the incredible and often marginalized work of black midwives and doulas.

  • Everyone has the right to a safe, empowering, and respectful birth experience.
